Thanks pinksee & Susie & Lauren... I downloaded the zip file and placed it into the "KMP" new folder inside "Download" as instructed. I unzipped it to an *.so file -didn't work; I left it as a *.zip file -didn't work as well.

I still get this message:
"This codec is not supported. In order to use an external codec, please check QnA".

The file played had an extension: DD5.1_H264. Can you please advise if the fix above will resolve this Dolby Digital audio playback issue? If not, can you advise if there are other codecs are needed? My device is an Android tablet Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1.

Dear Cliewmc,

It seems you made a New “KMP” folder in “Download” folder when you downloaded the codec on your phone.

If you made the “new folder” and save the file in it, it wouldn't work.
What you can do is, just simply download the file on either EXISTING “KMP” folder OR “Download” folder. You don’t need to make a new folder. After downloading it, please try unzip it and see if it works.

Hope this works this time.
