#1 | Link | 2.9.3.1428 play time/seek bar shown 3times large on some MP3s, Posted 06-28-2008 Quote
As you can see from example info below, actual duration is 30min 56s, but KMP shows 90min 35s initially and unable to play/seek beyond real 30min limit of course (resets to beginning of the file on attempt), but seek bar shown is as large as for 90min. It happens with both internal and external MP3 decoders. Winamp show play time correctly on that files. Can it be wrong variable bit rate calculations?

Format : MPEG Audio
Format version : Version 1
Format profile : Layer 3
Duration : 30mn 56s
Bit rate mode : Variable
Bit rate : 187 Kbps
Minimum bit rate : 32.0 Kbps
Channel(s) : 2 channels
Sampling rate : 44.1 KHz
Resolution : 16 bits
Writing library : LAME3.97
Encoding settings : VBR (mtrh)

As you wish (but I try any combination to make files from this disk to show correctly, in vain, so "change that to that" thing already done).

Try switching back to the default (BASS). The filtergraph is not recommended by default. Or you can try winamp decoder. If the problem persists with bass or winamp decoder, I'd like to get the whole sample to see what is wrong.

It happens both with libmad and libmplay checked and default filter graph:

[Primary Filtergraph]
0) - KMP MP3 Source
1) - KMP Audio Codec
2) - Default DirectSound Device

How to switch to Winamp decoder (or you mean libmplay)?

Small sample attached to this message.
BTW, incorrect time/seek bar shown for small sample too. Winamp shows right time.

Did you reset the player? It should be KMP MP3 Source(BASS).

[Primary Filtergraph]
0) - KMP MP3 Source(BASS)
1) - KMP Audio Transform(Copy)
2) - Default DirectSound Device

Hmm. Right play time now with that:

[Primary Filtergraph]

1) - KMP Audio Transform(Copy)
2) - Default DirectSound Device

It seems I found problematic part, it is

KMP MP3 Splitter (show incorrect time)

when I change that to

KMP Bass MP3 Decoder (play time becomes right).

To add:
Gabest MP3 Splitter shows slighly incorrect time - 2min bigger (not 3times bigger).
MPEG-I Stream, Mainconcept and Ulead Splitters show 15min bigger.
It seems all splitters have problems with VBR.
